8.8x the Impact Toughness of PLA+. ABS Heat Resistance. Prints Like Butter.
Most PLA+ filaments market themselves as "tough" — 3D-Fuel Tough Pro PLA+ actually proves it. In independent drop testing, Tough Pro PLA+ delivered 8.8 times the impact toughness of standard PLA+. It outperforms ABS on impact strength and matches ABS on heat resistance — all without the warping, fumes, and printability headaches that come with ABS. And it does it using a sustainably sourced, bio-based feedstock that no standard engineering filament can claim.
Manufactured in the USA from genuine NatureWorks™ 3D870 Ingeo PLA — a third-generation engineering-grade bio-plastic with a certified eco-profile — Tough Pro PLA+ is the material for projects where standard PLA fails and ABS is more trouble than it's worth.
Tough Pro PLA+ Boasts 8.8x The Impact Toughness Of PLA+
Test parts were 3D printed on a Bambu Lab X1C at 0.2mm layer height with no annealing. A 1kg standard weight was used for the drop test.
The video plays at 12.5% of real-time speed.
The Hot Car Test
One of the most common real-world heat challenges for 3D printed parts: a car dashboard in summer. Standard PLA+ softens and deforms. Tough Pro PLA+ holds — in testing, it outperformed standard PLA+ in a controlled temperature ramp-up without any post-processing. Customers report it performing reliably in vehicles parked in the Arizona desert. For applications where heat matters and annealing isn't practical, this is the filament.
Heat Resistance Comparison
Want even more performance? Anneal your finished Tough Pro PLA+ prints for maximum heat resistance and impact toughness. The annealing process causes 1–2% shrinkage, so design accordingly and constrain the part during annealing to achieve the best results. The SUNLU FilaDryer E2 handles annealing Tough Pro PLA+ at the required temperatures.
Chocolate Brown brings a deep, warm, earthy tone to every print — a natural-looking finish that works as well for organic and nature-themed models as it does for rugged functional parts. It's the color choice for terrain builders, tabletop makers, and anyone who wants a refined, grounded aesthetic straight off the build plate.
Built for demanding applications where standard filaments fall short — perfect for:
- Industrial and functional parts requiring impact resistance beyond standard PLA or PLA+
- Automotive components, dashboard mounts, and interior fixtures in high-heat environments
- Terrain pieces, dioramas, and tabletop gaming models requiring a rich, earthy finish
- Wood-effect and nature-themed props, figurines, and display pieces
- Tools, jigs, and fixtures for workshop and manufacturing use
- Cosplay props and accessories with a natural, rugged, or aged aesthetic
- Outdoor fixtures and brackets requiring heat and impact resistance
- Any application where you've outgrown PLA+ but don't want to deal with ABS
Printer Compatibility: Compatible with most 1.75mm FDM 3D printers, including Bambu Lab AMS systems. Tested in-house on Bambu Lab X1C, Raise3D, MakerBot, LulzBot, Prusa, Creality, and more.
