Product Description
Product Description
Carbon Fiber Stiffness. ASA Toughness. Built for the Real World.
ASA already handles what PLA and PETG can't — UV exposure, rain, heat, and sustained outdoor use without yellowing, warping, or breaking down. Adding chopped carbon fiber to the formula takes it further: dramatically increased stiffness, reduced weight, improved dimensional stability, and excellent layer adhesion. The result is a filament that prints rigid, functional parts with the weather resistance of ASA and the structural performance of a carbon fiber composite.
Ambrosia ASA-CF is derived from 100% virgin Grade-A non-toxic pellets blended with long chopped carbon fiber strands, manufactured to ±0.03mm tolerance — tighter than industry standard — for consistent diameter and reliable extrusion from first layer to last. Free of additives. Wound on an eco-friendly cardboard spool. Vacuum-sealed with desiccant.
⚠️ Abrasive filament — hardened nozzle required. Carbon fiber strands will destroy brass nozzles rapidly. We strongly recommend printing with a tungsten carbide nozzle for maximum durability and longevity. A hardened steel nozzle is the minimum requirement. Do not print this filament through a standard brass nozzle.
⚠️ Carbon fiber safety: Do not sand ASA-CF prints without proper respiratory protection (N95 or P100 rated). Carbon fiber dust is a serious respiratory hazard. Wear gloves when handling raw fiber strands. Always print in a well-ventilated area with proper respiratory equipment.
Color note: Due to the nature of carbon fiber infusion, all ASA-CF colors are dark in tone. Bright, neon, and fluorescent color variants are not possible with carbon fiber infill.
Stiff, strong, and weather-proof — perfect for:
- Outdoor functional parts — mounting brackets, enclosures, and housings exposed to sun, rain, and temperature swings
- Drone frames and components — lightweight, stiff, UV-resistant
- Automotive brackets, trim pieces, and under-hood components
- RC car and hobby vehicle structural parts
- Tool holders, jigs, and fixtures that need rigidity without weight
- Replacement parts for outdoor equipment, garden tools, and hardware
- Engineering prototypes requiring stiffness and dimensional accuracy
- Any application where PLA or PETG would warp, yellow, or degrade in outdoor conditions

Critical printing notes:
- Enclosure highly encouraged — ASA is prone to warping and layer splitting in open-air environments. An enclosure dramatically improves results, especially on taller prints
- Hardened nozzle required — tungsten carbide recommended; hardened steel at minimum. Brass nozzles will wear through rapidly with carbon fiber filament
- Heated bed required — 100–120°C. Cold beds will not work. This is not optional
- Not compatible with PTFE-lined hotends — printing at 250–280°C exceeds the safe operating temperature of PTFE (typically 240°C cap). You need an all-metal hotend
- Fan low or off for large parts — excessive cooling causes layer adhesion issues with ASA. Use minimal fan speed, especially on thick-walled functional parts
- Bambu AMS compatible — cardboard spool is AMS-friendly for multi-material setups

ASA-CF vs. Standard ASA — When to Choose What
- Standard ASA — UV resistant, weather resistant, good layer adhesion, good impact resistance. Use for outdoor parts that need toughness and some flex tolerance
- ASA-CF — everything ASA offers plus significantly higher stiffness (850–900 MPa flexural modulus vs standard ASA), improved dimensional stability, and reduced weight. Use when rigidity matters — structural parts, precision-fit assemblies, and applications where deflection under load is the failure mode
Trade-off: Carbon fiber increases stiffness at the cost of some elongation (15.5–17.5% vs higher for standard ASA) and requires a hardened nozzle. If your application needs more flex and you don't want to worry about nozzle wear, standard ASA is the better fit.
Safety
- VOC emissions: Filaments, including this product, may emit Volatile Organic Compounds when heated. Always print in a well-ventilated area with proper respiratory protection
- Carbon fiber hazard: Carbon fiber filaments pose increased health risks. Do not sand printed parts without respiratory protection (N95/P100). Handle with care — wear gloves when handling raw fiber strands or sanding debris
- Spool dryer note: The cardboard spool glue is rated for 70°C. If your filament dryer exceeds this temperature, print a spool clip first to prevent unwinding
