Product Description
Product Description
Extra Shiny. Vividly Colorful. Butter-Smooth to Print.
Ambrosia Silk PLA is part of our Low Calorie line — no additives, just butter-smooth printing with a high-gloss sheen that makes colors pop. Where standard PLA prints matte, Silk PLA finishes with a lustrous, almost metallic shine that catches the light and shows off color with real vibrancy. It's the filament you reach for when the print is meant to be seen — display pieces, gifts, vases, decorative models, and anything where surface finish is part of the appeal.
Silk PLA is especially striking in multi-color work. The gloss finish accentuates color contrast, making it an excellent choice for co-extrusion, multi-material prints, and layered color designs where you want each color to stand out cleanly against the next.
Underneath the shine, it's still PLA — the most popular material in 3D printing for good reason. It's one of the easiest materials to print with: low melting point, prints without a heated bed if needed, and forgiving of technique. PLA is a biodegradable plastic derived from renewable resources like corn. Printing is typically odorless or gives off a faint sweet aroma, and emits fewer harmful fumes than many other materials — making it a safer choice for enclosed spaces without heavy ventilation.
Derived from 100% virgin Grade-A non-toxic pellets, manufactured to ±0.03mm tolerance — tighter than industry standard — for consistent diameter and reliable extrusion end to end. Wound on an eco-friendly, Bambu AMS-friendly cardboard spool. Vacuum-sealed with desiccant.
We say it's "Low Calorie," but don't eat it — your printer is the only machine that should ingest our filament.

Tips for the best silk finish:
- Use a smooth build surface — smooth PEI or glass gives the glossiest bottom layer. Textured surfaces will dull the sheen on the first layer
- Run cooling fans high — good cooling helps preserve the gloss and sharpens detail
- Print slightly hotter than standard PLA if the sheen looks dull — silk finish benefits from full melt; if your gloss isn't showing, nudge the temperature up within the range
- Slower speeds enhance shine — for display pieces, a slower print speed produces a more consistent, mirror-like surface
- Single-wall and vase mode look stunning — silk PLA is a favorite for spiralized vase-mode prints where the continuous surface maximizes the gloss

Safety & Storage
- VOC emissions: Filaments, including this product, may emit Volatile Organic Compounds when heated. Print in a well-ventilated area. PLA emits fewer harmful fumes than most materials, but ventilation is still recommended
- Moisture: PLA absorbs moisture readily. Keep sealed in an airtight container with desiccant when not in use. Wet filament prints stringy and loses gloss
- Heat sensitivity: With a 53°C HDT, PLA prints (silk included) will soften in hot environments — do not leave prints in a hot car or direct summer sun
- Spool dryer note: The cardboard spool glue is rated for 70°C. If your dryer exceeds this, print a spool clip first to prevent unwinding
